Ability Advocacy: Assessment of Soc Dev Drug Rehab Centre

We were recently invited by the Department of Social Development to conduct an accessibility assessment of the new Drug Rehabilitation Centre that is being built in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth.

Whilst the concept and the consideration for persons with disabilities is commendable, we are however concerned about the lack of attention to detail regarding basic issues like bathroom fittings, ramps and counter heights.

We have submitted a report which we trust will be taken up with the architects.

We will be following up on this matter and will report back on developments.
