Thank you to Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism and the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency for giving us the opportunity to present a Universal Access in Tourism workshop with the aim of empowering local tourism businesses to provide products and services that can be equally enjoyed by persons with disabilities, tourists and locals alike.

Cllr Andrew Whitfield (NMBM mayoral committee, Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture) said, “It’s great to be with APD and ECPTA for a workshop on universal access in tourism. We can be the most disability friendly city in SA. We need to change our mindset, we need to embrace a new culture of caring and inclusivity in our city and our country and this is whey we are intervening in this particular space.  That is to promote awareness around people with disabilities, to ensure that the Municipality designs for disability and that’s really a concept that we all need to embrace, is that whatever we do we design for disability.”

Feedback from the delegates was overwhelmingly positive with a strong commitment to incorporating inclusive tourism practices into their tour operations going forward.
