Wheelchair Wednesday 2017 Week 3 launched from SUPERSPAR Newton Park.
The project slogan says it all: “Spend 4 hours in a wheelchair and change a life”
John Best, Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality MMC for Safety and Security, had the following to say about his experience of spending 4 hours in a wheelchair:
“Wheelchair Wednesday was an eye opener, to see and experience how difficult the least thought of able bodied daily activities are for disabled persons, and that was only 4 hrs. Drawing money from an ATM, opening/closing a door, shopping and trying to ride up a ramp with a wheelchair. Thank you to the Association for the Physical Disabled in Nelson Mandela Bay for hosting this event today.”
“Wheelchair Wednesday: A deeper insight into the needs of mobility impaired people and a wonderful initiative by the Association for people with Disabilities. NMB Municipality will strive to make the City Wheelchair friendly,” said NMB MMC for Constituency Services, Shirley Sauls, following her 4 hours spent in a wheelchair.
