What we Do

Restoring Dignity Through Support & Care

APD Nelson Mandela Bay’s Social Work Department plays a vital and deeply compassionate role in uplifting underprivileged families throughout the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro. Each year, we support over 2,000 households — many living in poverty and facing the daily realities of living with disability. Our dedicated team of qualified social workers works directly within these communities, providing hands-on support, emotional care, and access to essential services.

Through our wide-reaching programs, we address not only the immediate needs of individuals with disabilities but also those of their families and caregivers. We offer guidance through complex systems such as grant applications and referrals, while also advocating for greater inclusion and equality. Our mission is to walk alongside families on their journey toward improved wellbeing, dignity, and independence — creating lasting change that reaches far beyond the individuals we serve.
